All persons and congregations were invited to join the interfaith International Day of Peace Vigil for Southeast Volusia, held on Sunday, September 21st at 3 PM in New Smyrna Beach.   This event will be held at The United Church of Christ.

This is part of a global undertaking to bring together individuals and groups bound only by a common belief that the power of prayer and meditation serves as a powerful means of encouraging peace and non-violence.   For more information and details go

The Bethlehem Christmas Project
Speakers-
Reverend Dr. Stephen Sizer, Sept 20th

Reverend Sizer's Third book, Zion's Christian Soldiers? was recently released in the US this fall. The continued conflict in Gaza, The West Bank and Israel, threatens the livelihood and continued existence of a Christian population there. The Volusia PeaceCenter has arranged to bring Rev. Sizer here so that American citizens could learn how the secular state of Israel and American foreign policy, combined with the theology of Christian Zionism has contributed to the exodus of the indigenous Palestinian Christians from the Holy Land.

The "End Times" theology of popular writers like Hal Lindsey in his Late Great Planet Earth and Tim LaHaye's Left Behind series captivated the imagination of generations of Evangelical Christians. For some, linking today's news headlines and Scripture gave everyday life a sense of urgency and significance; yet such flights of fancy have had devastating real-life consequences for the people of the Middle East.

Just as Biblical interpretations defended slavery and Apartheid, Scripture has been used to justify Middle Eastern occupation, oppression, and injustice, in definance of the concerns of the Hebrew prophets and in policies that are truly anti-Christian. Contact us if you are interested in his latest book or audio Cd's.
